How to make you’re own city

Hey! Cara and Hareem here! We’re going to walk you through how we’re making our very own Dundas. :)
First, you’ll need a big cardboard box of your choice of size. If you want, you can paper mache the box. Me and Hareem are paper macheing so that all the newspaper the school gets doesn’t go to waste. Next, paint the roads and grass on to your box. Make sure your roads are correctly placed. While all the paint is drying, make your buildings, houses and trees. When you’ve finished all your little sculptings paint them. When the paint dries, glue them in their correct place on the box. When everything is placed on, wait for the glue to dry.
Voila! You have your very own city.
    Thanks for reading! Buh-Bye. (:

It would be great to be taking some pictures of this process to look back on later. Borrow a camera and take some shots of the progress so far to post up on your site.

    ISU project

Hey ! My class is working on an ISU project. ISU stands for Independant Study Unit , but I’m working with a partner anyways, cause’ I’m a rebel >:D
Me and my partner Hareem and building a big replica of Dundas. We’ll talk about special buildings and places and culture and history.
We have finished paper macheing the base of the city. We’re currently building the buildings such as Dundas Central and houses.
Hopefully we’ll be able to finish before the deadline!
    Buh Byee♥

    Track and Field!

Hey guys! Today for my free choice blog i’ll be talking about track and field.  Tomorrow and Monday are track and field days for my school. For Friday, we’ll be walking over to Parkside Highschool to do the track part, and on Monday we’ll be competing in the field part in our school yard.  The events that the grade 5′s can choose from are : 100 meter sprint (track), 300 meter run (track),700 meter run (track),  ball throw (field), running long jump (field) and standing long jump (field). The events for the grade 6s can choose from are: 100 meter sprint (track), 200 meter sprint (track), 400 meter run (track) ,1500 meter run (track),  shot put (field), running long jump (field) and highjump (field).  Everyone had to pick at least two events for track to compete in, and at least two for field, too.  For track I chose 100 meter sprint, and 400 meter run.  For field, I chose running long jump and highjump.  Im worried because i’m not the best runner, and we barely ever practiced for highjump! I hope I clear.
Cross your fingers for me! =)

    Origami !

Wow! I just watched a video about Origami and saving the environment. It was very interesting!
The creator made a video that caught my attention and hooked me from the start.
I think the message the creator was trying to show is that even just one ordinary average man can make a difference in the world. We need to make a change in our environment because this is where we live. We’ve only got one world, and there’s something wrong with it. Something thats got to change. I think if the video ran in reverse, it would be exactly what’s already happened. The video goes from “busy polluted city” to “Big nature valley”. We have gone from wonderful forests and mountains and streams, to big mansion reserves, sky scrapers and public swimming pools. In the video, the man folds everything in the city back to the way it used to be, using origami. Roads turn in to meadows, sky-scrapers to mountains, and cars in to trees. But, what happens to the people when the man turns the buildings and cars in to natural things? Is he saying that there was a time where there was no humans? Just animals and forest? I think he might be saying that the world would have been more peaceful without us humans, because the animals weren’t the ones who started to put green-house gases in to our atmosphere, nor were the trees! We did. But, it’s not just our world we’re polluting. The animals live here, the fish, the birds, the trees, everything has some form of life, and we’re destroying their world as well as ours. Thats why the man folded us away.
Thats my idea :) Feel free to comment with your own!
    Byee ! <3

    Geocachingg ♥

Hey! I went geochaching a while ago with my class, and it was so fun!!
I wonder why people hide caches… Maybe it’s just because its a fun sport to play that can be joined in by anyone, and it’s very exciting to find new caches, as well as hide your own!
I think that if I ever hid a cache, i’d make sure it was in a hard place to find. But, since people have GPSs, I would also make it hard to access. I would put it in a hole, but leave a piece of it peeking out of the ground , but leave that piece under a rock.
But, what would I make my cache? I wouldn’t want to hide something to valuable, in case I forgot where l hid it… Or even if someone found it, and I never got it back. But, I wouldn’t want to make it something worthless and non-interesting. So, maybe I would use some of my old things that I don’t use anymore. But, just because I don’t play with them anymore, it doesn’t mean they’re not fun! :)
Do you think community buildings benefit from geocaching? I do! I think that community buildings will benefit from geocaching on their grounds because while the geocachers are looking for their cache, they will probably notice how interesting or nice the buildings property is. That could resort to future visits and explorations.
Well, all together I think geocaching is a wonderful and fun activity to do, because it’s very exciting, and it’s always lovely to be able to explore and take a walk in the nature with your friends. I would definitely love to try it again some time!
    Thanks for reading!! :D :D

This is a good start. Try to take some time to flesh out the statements you make. You tell us that geocaching was fun, but then you don’t go into detail about why you enjoyed it. I like your assertion that you would make the cache “hard to find”. I think an important part of the sport of geocaching is not the treasure, but the hunt.

    Voice

One day me and my mum were walking through the market to get some food. We had been short on bananas for days now and I was really quite hungry.  But then we heard something from the radio of an apple salesperson. “Earthquake warning! Please proceed calmly to your residence and stay alert” it said.  all of a sudden my mom looked really scared and pale, and I wasn’t very hungry for bananas anymore.  We ran home hand in hand.  I saw the house, and instantly felt safer. I ran towards the door. But then I realized that I wasn’t holding my moms hand anymore… I heard her scream. “No!” I looked back, and saw her reaching out, trying to grab my hand. Why wasn’t she coming inside with me? I ran through the door and waved my hand at her, beckoning to her.Telling her to come in. She ran forward in alarm. Just as she was about to snatch me up… BAM. I couldn’t see anything.  My legs felt like they were being crushed. What was it? It began to get hard to breath.  Dust was filling in around me. Heat, pain, darkness… more darkness… Then, nothing.
    *
I had been there for at least 3 days.I was hungry, in pain and was desperate for some fresh air. I did not know how much time had passed. I looked up. There was something cracking. Then, there was a hint of light. Fresh air was starting to flood in. I heard voices. I started calling out. “Hey! Down here! It’s me!” I shrieked. There was loud banging… Then I looked beside me and saw a pair of legs. I tapped at them. “Hey! Are you here to help me?” I asked the pair of legs. The mans voice was booming and  strong. “Yes!” He said with relief. “I’m here to help you. Hey guys! I found one!”He called up. There was more people? Had they been looking for me? He reached down and swooped me up in this arms. I opened my eyes, just to close them back up again. The light was blinding, while the fresh air was like heaven passing through my lungs. I was passed through multiple pairs of arms. There was cheering. Sighs of relief. I was placed in to comfortable, warm and familiar arms. I knew it was my mother. She cried with me in her arms. She told me it was all going to get better. We just need a little help.
